Schedules list the competition categories and conditions for the Rose Shows held throughout the year by The Queensland Rose Society. Why not download one and bring a couple of roses along - never know, you might win something.

The Monthly Shows are an opportunity to bring your roses along and exhibit them alongside other members in a friendly environment. Members will help you display your roses and talk to you about your flowers. Prizes include fertilizers and sprays for your roses. There is now a prize for ever section.

Division I     Exhibition Roses

Class 1: 3 Roses, NND

Class 2: 1 Rose, Red colour

Class 3: 1 White/Cream Rose

Class 4: Rose any colour other than classes 2 and 3

Division II     Exhibition Roses

Class 5: 2 Roses, NND

Class 6: 1 Red Rose

Class 7: 1 White/Cream Rose

Class 8: 1 Rose any colour other than Classes 6 and 7

Division III     Novice

A Division III (Novice) Exhibitor is a member or affiliated Society member who has been an exhibitor for less than 2 years and has not won more than major/best exhibit awards in Division III at Monthly Shows or major shows, excluding December Shows.

Class 9:   1 Stem/Cut HT Rose(s)

Class 10: 1 Stem/Cut Floribunda Rose(s)

Class 11: 1 Stem/Cut Mini-Flora or Miniature Rose(s)

Class 12: 1 Stem/Cut Modern Shrub Rose(s) (Includes David Austins)

Class 13: 1 Stem/Cut of any rose not otherwise provided for in Novice Class

 

Division IV     Open Section

 

(All exhibitors eligible for the rest of the Schedule)

Class 14: 1 Full Bloom

Class 15: 1 Perfumed Rose

Class 16: 3 Stems H.T. Roses, 1 Cultivar, 3 Stages (bud to full bloom), vertical arrangement, In 1 container.

Class 17: 1 Stem/Cut Modern Shrub Rose(s), includes David Austins

Class 18: 1 Stem/Cut Polyantha Rose(s)

Class 19: 1 Stem/ Cut Old Fashioned/Heritage Rose(s)

 FLORIBUNDA ROSES

Class 20: 1 Cut Floribunda Rose

Class 21: 3 Stems Floribunda Rose NND

Class 22: 3 Stems Floribunda Roses, 1 Cultivar, 1 bloom per stem, 3stages of opening

(open stage must be full bloom), in vertical arrangement, in one container.

NOTE: Extra buds are allowed in Classes 25-32 but are not counted as flowers. A bud can 

show colour but must not have any petals unfurled or separating from the centre.

 DECORATIVE ROSES

FOR H.T.ROSES ONLY

NOTE: A list of exhibition varieties excluded from this section is printed on page 4 of this schedule but if  in doubt, consult the Chief Steward.

Class 23: 1 Stem Cut H.T. Single Rose(s)

Class 24: 1 Cut H.T. Rose (Multiple head) side buds allowed

Class 25: 1 H.T. Rose any colour

Class 26: 3 Roses, Early opening stage in 1 container, NND

N.B.: Early opening stage is considered past bud stage and up to 1/3 open.

MINI-FLORA ROSES

Side buds allowed in this section (See list of known Mini-Flora Roses on Page 4 for your guidance)

Class 27: 1 Stem/Cut Mini-Flora Rose(s)

Class 28: 3 Stems/Cuts Mini-Flora Rose(s)

Class 29: 3 Stems Mini-Flora Roses, 1 Cultivar, 1 Bloom per stem in 3 stages of opening,

       (open stage must be full bloom), in vertical arrangement, in 1 container, wiring permitted.

 

MINIATURE ROSES

  SECTION 7 - Side buds allowed in this section

Class 30: 1 Stem/Cut Miniature Rose(s)

Class 31: 3 Stems/Cuts Miniature Rose(s)

Class 32: 3 Stems Miniature Roses, 1 Cultivar, 1 Bloom per stem in 3 stages of opening,

          (open stage must be full bloom), in vertical arrangement, in 1 container, wiring permitted.

 

VASES

  SECTION 8

Class 33: 1 Vase of 5 H.T. Roses NND, Frontal Presentation

Class 34: 1 Vase Floribunda Roses NND, Frontal Presentation

Class 35: 1 Vase Floribunda Roses NND, All Round Presentation

Class 36: 1 Vase Mini-Flora Roses All Round Presentation

Class 37: 1 Vase Miniature Roses NND, All Round Presentation

 

FLORAL ART

 SECTION 9

Class 38: A Bowl or Basket of Roses. Exhibitor’s choice but Roses must predominate

in Floral Art, accessories, drapes, bases, other foliage and horticultural materials such as pussy

willow, bullrushes, seed heads, twigs etc., painted or lacquered horticultural material and other

miscellaneous aids NOT necessarily horticultural, may be used with discretion but ROSES MUST PREDOMINATE,

except in Modern arrangements.


The Society meets at Church Hall, 459 Annerley Road, Annerley Junction, Brisbane at 7 p.m. on the second Wednesday of February, March, April, June, July, September, November and December.
